Coda

Public Art - 'Coda'

Commissioned by Cambridge City Council/ Cambridge Live, ‘Coda' is the permanent art memorial to Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd displayed at The Cambridge Corn Exchange.

This piece portrays the cheeky, humourous and enigmatic nature of the iconic Syd Barrett at his most creative in the 1960s. His face and shadow appear and reappear by virtue of a spinning motor which gently turns Syd's head within the bicycle wheel - a reference to one of his most famous songs. Using an oil wheel light reminiscent of the early Mike Leonard lightshows enhances the effect even further as shown in movie below.

Unveiled in 2017. Spadge was lead creative for this project and the piece he created was on show at Cambridge Corn Exchange, it has been a permanent exhibition there ever since.'

'All The Young Dudes'

Following on from the success of the launch of CODA and his work with Cambridge Live/Cambridge City Council, Spadge was invited to organise and curate a rock themed exhibition at The Cambridge Guildhall. This he named "All The Young Dudes" and included work by his friend Terry Pastor, the renowned creator of David Bowie's album covers for Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust.

With one room dedicated to his own light projection pieces and the larger hall converted into a gallery by Spadge using with tall triangular plinths, the shown was a great success with many visitors and sales.
